Should You Switch Your Home Phone to VOIP?
Change to VOIP Internet Phone Service Over BroadBand or DSL
Should you switch to VOIP?The big decision is whether to switch your home telephone service to VOIP. Wow, it sounds cheap- $14.95 a month? Why isn’t everyone switching?
A bit about what VOIP is: Voice over Internet Protocol- For now we’ll say it provides your phone service over broadband connection- DSL or Cable. VOIP cannot be used with a dial up phone service- that would be POTS, or “plain old telephone service” which is what you have now. A good site for basic, non-commercial info on VOIP is the FCC site- http://www.fcc.gov/VOIP/.

The Advantages of VOIP for Small Businesses
80% of VOIP Subscribers Say that Their VOIP Phone System Has Exceeded Their Expectations
VOIP technology is becoming increasingly attractive to small business owners due to the amount of savings when compared to the traditional telephone line. Business owners who use a VOIP phone system see savings on toll calls as well as a reduction in cost associated with phone line maintenance. VOIP phone systems use the same lines as the office internet connection thus offering a reduced cost with less lines and lower maintenance costs associated with the installation and upkeep. In recent years, their have been major improvements in the quality of VOIP service. Today's VOIP sound quality is very close to that offered by Ma Bell. A decrease in the delay of voice packets makes the VOIP line have a clearer sound with fewer breaks or echoes. Most VOIP lines offer the same sound quality of the traditional telephone line.
Infotech reported that an estimated 80% of businesses that utilize VOIP phones report that it has met or exceeded their expectations. Many large call centers are using VOIP for their customer service lines. VOIP technology allows the use of voice prompts versus the old “push 1 for...” thus making for a more customer friendly service call and lower expenses associated with maintaining the call center.

Top Four VOIP Services
VoIP, short for Voice Over Internet Protocol, is a steadily growing trend among businesses and individuals both domestically and internationally. These high-technology services allow business partners, colleagues, customers and friends to communicate verbally without high long-distance rates. VoIP services work over your PC and many are low-cost solutions for communications issues.
Originally, VoIP was designed primarily for business use. Since the connection is made through your Internet Provider rather than through the phone line, businesses were able to use VoIP to host long-distance conference calls and to communicate with overseas colleagues. Now, however, it seems that VoIP is heading in a different direction, possibly setting up to overtake normal telephone service providers entirely.
There are a few factors you should consider before switching to or adding VoIP:

VOIP: Why Should You Switch to Voip Phone Service?
Will You Be Riding the Wave of the Future?
There is a new phone service on the block! Voice over internet protical is commonly abrivated voip. This new technology alows the user the tranfer ther voice over a high speed internet connection, via a reaular phone. There are servral distinct advantages that you, the cunsomer, should consider when thinking of switching to voip. The first consideration is cost. Let us take for exaple, vonage, the leading voip provider. For residencal service vonage charges $25 monthly. That includes all of the common phone features, such as call waiting and caller id, as well as untimited long distance. That is considerable savings over traditional phone companys who not only charge for long distance but for some of the calling features privously mentioned.
The second consideration is convinence. When you have service with a voip provider you can take your phone number with you as you travel. Your voip service is recived through an adapter and hooked to a regular phone. As long as there is a highspeed internet rounter or modem you can connect to, your phone will work anywhere!

VoIP Technology for Non-Techies - How it Can Help Your Small Business
When a Telephone is More Than a Telephone!
With the recent Vonage IPO and flurry of television commercials for new VoIP or "voice-over-IP" services, many are wondering what this new technology is, what it means, and how it can help them.VoIP is a very simple concept - instead of sending voice over copper wires and TDM'ing or "time division multiplexing" it (a discussion of which would turn non-technies green); VoIP sends voice out the same way data is sent out from your computer. When you send an email from your computer to another location, the data is "packetized", or broken into small bits that are then sent the most efficient way over the Internet. The packets do not arrive in order, but are stored in buffer memory and reordered before they appear as a new email or file on the recipients computer. Voice data can also be "packetized", but each packet must be reordered with no time delay in order to make sure it sounds right on the other end.
After ten years of research by many companies, VoIP technology has solved this delay problem among others to provide voice quality that rivals the quality of more traditional approaches, at a fraction of the cost.

What is VOIP Calling?
How to Choose a VOIP Service
A few months ago, I moved to Europe, excited to explore a new continent. Pretty soon though, I realized that just trying to call close family and friends at home in the States would start eating up all my traveling money. Fortunately, I discovered VOIP calling and pretty soon my international phone bill for six months cost less than one airport dinner.VOIP, or Voice of Internet Protocol, is technology that allows people to use their computer as a telephone. Voice information is transferred as data through the internet, instead of over traditional phone lines. Since the company does not have to maintain or pay to use an infrastructure, their costs are kept extremely low, and that means extremely low rates for the customer - as low as a one hundredth of a cent per minute!
All you need to get started using VOIP is a home computer, a high speed internet connection and a Janet Jackson style headset. These headsets are easily found at your local computer store for around $5 to $20. My experience has been that cheaper headsets work just as well as the more expensive ones. If your computer has a built-in microphone and speaker, you can use that instead, but it may sacrifice a bit of sound quality. The people that you are calling do not have to have VOIP, or even a computer. In fact, they won't know you are calling their landline or mobile from the internet unless you tell them. However, if you are mostly calling one or two people who are technology savvy, it may be cheapest for everyone if you get a VOIP service like Skype or Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. These types of services allow two or more users to call each other for free if they both use the website service.

Tell Your Phone Company to VoIP Off!
Get Smart and Switch to VoIP!
I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of being ripped off by my local phone company. For years, I have been held captive by this monopolizing regime with no hope of moving on to something better. It’s been a financial struggle that has caused me to seek counseling numerous times throughout the years. Why? Because my phone company charges me for everything: I want to add voicemail, they charge me. I call to change my number because I am getting crank calls, they charge me. I want to add call waiting, they charge me. I want to disconnect, they charge me. I’m surprised they don’t charge me when I call into a customer support. So the question remains. Is there an affordable alternative to local phone service? The answer is yes, and it’s called VoIP, short for Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP is an emerging technology that allows telephone calls to be transported over an existing Internet connection.
Here is how it works.

The VoIP Insurgency
Join the VoIP Revolution
There was a dreadful time in history when the telecom regime (local phone companies) held consumers captive by charging high prices for phone service. To make matters worse, this regime would nickel and dime consumers to death for additional features like voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and call forwarding. Not to mention their customer service or lack thereof, was and still is a horrifying experience. This long history of monopolizing the telecommunication industry has finally come to an end. It’s time for a regime change. Consumers now have an alternative – introducing VoIP.VoIP, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that allows you to make phone calls over an existing Internet connection instead of a regular (analog) phone line. Some services that use VoIP only allow you to call other people using the same service, usually done when making PC to PC phone calls. Other services allow you to call anyone, anywhere (as long as they have a telephone number) including: local & long distance, mobile, and international numbers. This type of VoIP service allows you to use a traditional phone that plugs directly into a phone adapter.
The great thing about VoIP is that all the additional features are included in the monthly fee. These features include: unlimited local & long distance calls into the US & Canada, voicemail, call waiting, caller id, three-way, just to name a few. Most VoIP service providers typically charge between $20 and $25 dollars a month.

It is a simple concept, and one that is having a significant impact on the world of business communications.

Best Value Residential VoIP Service
Which VoIP Company Offers You the Best Value?
Today’s world is constantly changing when it comes to technical advances; this is also true with the phone systems we use. Our phone lines now run through our Internet connections eliminating our need for a traditional wired telephone line. This system is called VoIP, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP can be found in many businesses and it’s becoming more used in the home as well. If this is something you are considering you might want to do some research first to make sure you find a reliable company that offers the features you need and has good customer service. This article will discuss some of the major companies and help you to choose which is the best value VoIP for your home. There are many companies out there that will say they are the best but some of their customers might say different. If you call customer service and can’t understand them I doubt you are going to be able to solve your problems.
A lot of the local cable and internet companies are offering VoIP, sometimes they offer it in a package with there cable or internet service so it might be a good value for you if your already a customer. If you are looking for a stand-alone company this wouldn’t be the way to go, they will be higher in cost compared to a regular VoIP company.

VoIP for Business: Uncovering Your Options
Businesses Are Jumping on the VoIP Bandwagon
The emergence of new technologies has benefited businesses tremendously. The internet has brought together customers from around the world; laptop computers have made it easier for employees to work remotely; and company phone systems have become completely automated. In each case companies have realized sharp gains in worker productivity while trimming overhead expenses significantly. One area that has recently experienced a revolutionary change is Private Branch Exchange [PBX] telephone systems. Please keep reading and we shall explore how a VoIP PBX system can benefit your company while cutting costs. There is no doubt about it that your phone system is a costly, but necessary part of running your business. If you have multiple locations and have workers who frequently work from home or off site, then you know that phone charges can be a substantial expense - one that can affect your bottom line. Running separate PBX systems at each location adds up, but a Virtual Office VoIP PBX system can trim these expenses significantly.
Instead of having multiple PBX systems in place, a company can install a single internet protocol [IP] PBX system at one location - such as corporate headquarters - and send calls out to IP phones or regular phones with IP adapters everywhere. No expensive hardware costs are incurred as a simple software update enables the system to become active. Indeed, expensive switching equipment is not needed as all calls are routed through the internet. Significantly, employees can make intra-office, inter-office, and international calls through the internet for just pennies per call.

Understanding Voice Over IP (VoIP)
<img src="http://www.counttrackula.com/tracker/image/770/1150.gif" />
The Internet has spawned a wide range of business and personal communication solutions that combine old methods with new technology to improve the way we talk to one another. One such method is Voice over IP (VoIP), which allows a person to use their Internet connection and their office or home phone in conjunction to communicate with others. VoIP is a growing business communications method for several reasons. One reason is that it is an inexpensive communication method, combining the costs of traditional phone lines with the costs of Internet access to save lots of money down the road. Another reason is that the reception is crystal clear and with the amount of time people spend online, it is important to have an integrated system to become a more efficient worker. Still confused about VoIP? It is understandable, considering the relative obscurity of this product outside of trendy businesses that are trying out new technology. To find out more about VoIP capabilities and cost savings, there is a helpful article at http://ip-communications.cisco-online.co.uk/VOIP/ that will answer any questions or concerns you have.

VOIP Retailer in Morocco
Morocco is a country where the telecom business is a state monopoly. Though there are few competitors, in real sense there are very less private partners and thus there is not enough competition to state telecom industry. Since landline long distance calls are on a very high scale, VOIP telephony, that is internet telephony, if introduced will be a money-spinner for the business ventures and will be a boon to expatriates as well as local population in view of its cost-effectiveness. Payment for VOIP services through various retail outlets will be a good idea.

VOIP Phone Solutions Reviewed
Have you considered using VoiP for your phone service? I certainly did, and after using two different companies, I have a clear choice of which one I prefer. I will explain a bit about which one I prefer and exactly why I prefer it. I have Vonage currently, and approximately 2 years ago, I had AT&T's VoiP service. Between the two, I personally prefer AT&T.
My reason for preferring AT&T is simple, they offer a 1-800 number in which you can call from a payphone, enter your access ID number, and then make a phone call as if you are calling from your home phone! Even works from a payphone, or if your calling from a number you want to keep private. This nifty little feature is included standard in their monthly fee and does not cost any extra. Since their service included unlimited calls nationwide, there are no extra fees associated with going over minutes or any other hassles. I am the type of person who usually has bad luck and ends up stuck somewhere with a dead cell phone battery, so for me this feature was great.
Vonage is a bit for expanded in their coverage area; however, their service seems to be a bit less robust than AT&T's service. I have an internet-based business, and it involves the use of a lot of bandwidth being carried over my internet connection, this is normally not a problem, until I try to use the phone at the same time as working. I always have to adjust the speed limits on the bandwidth when I am on the phone now. This is a major hassle at times.

Is a VoIP Right for You?
I first heard about a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) about three years ago. There was only one company that provided "land line" phone service in the area where we were living, and I was complaining to some friends about the high cost. We had a basic phone line with no additional "frills" such as call waiting, caller ID, or voice mail, and we were paying about $35 each month. My neighbors shared the amount of money that they were saving each month by using a VoIP and I decided I needed to find out more. There are a number of factors that should be considered in making an "informed decision" as to whether VoIP service is right for you.
How it Works
In order to utilize a VoIP, you need to have the right equipment. You typically need a broadband Internet connection (essentially, a high speed internet access connection such as DSL or cable); a modem; a phone adapter (different providers typically offer adapters that are specific to their service), and a phone. Using a VoIP is similar to using a regular phone service. All you have to do is pick up the phone to call others (you call anyone who has a phone line) and your phone will ring when a call is calling through. The logistics are a bit different in that the phone adapter converts your voice into data, sends it through your Internet connection, and then converts it back into your phone when the person on the other end picks up the phone.

Voice Over Internet Protocol: The Pros and Cons of Vonage VoIP
In these days where telecommunications is a leading industry, households are seeking information left and right, looking for the various alternatives. It seems that most people, at least those in the larger cities like New York, Boston and Chicago have opted to dump their landline and just stick with their wireless cell phones. That's what I did for awhile. Why does one need a home phone, really, if you can pretty much setup your wireless service for the cheapest option according to your specific calling habits? After all, most companies now offer weekends and nights free so as long as you keep your daytime chatter to a minimum, your monthly bill could probably be fairly predictable, making a convenient service for you and your family. However, there are occasions where one might prefer to use a landline in addition to or instead of a cell phone. For instance, maybe you reside in a bad network area for service. There's nothing worse than not being able to reach the outside world while at home, not to mention the fact that it's unsafe. Or perhaps you have a business you operate from home where dozens of calls are made in and out each day. In these cases, then, it may be a good idea to use a landline as your main telecommunication device.
Either that, or you can just get Vonage. That is, you can jump on the VoIP bandwagon and set yourself up with a phone service through your computer. Vonage is one of the several companies to offer telephone service through the VoIP method. VoIP, or voice over internet protocol is a newly developed means of telecommunications that works by rerouting your telephone service through your high speed internet connection. There are many benefits to using VoIP as your telecommunications alternative but also many downfalls. A few of the pros and cons of switching over to Vonage are listed below.

Features Included with Most VoIP Services
VoIP Features
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology has changed the way the world communicates like no other invention since the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. The use of VoIP does far more than to provide users with free long distance calling. Modern VoIP service comes complete with a large array of advanced features that can rarely be matched by traditional telephone service.VoIP not only offers the same features as a traditional telephone company, but also provides consumers with a host of features that can only be powered by a digital medium, such as VoIP. The advanced features offered by VoIP have helped pave the way for the next generation of communications technology. Let's analyze some of the features that are available with VoIP service.
Before looking at the more advanced features, it is important to note the basic features that are included with VoIP. When compared to the local telephone company, most consumers recognized this as being more of a "complete package". With VoIP, however, these really are the basics, and are just the beginning of what you will have available with VoIP.

Reasons to Switch to VoIP Telephone Service
Switching to VoIP Broadband Telephone
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is one of the fastest growing markets in the communications industry. VoIP is essentially a family of technologies that work together in a way that allows computer networks to be used for voice applications, such as telephone calls. Each day, more people make the switch from traditional telephone service to VoIP. Let's look at some of the top reasons for why people switch to VoIP.Quick, Easy and Convenient
One of the first aspects new VoIP customers will encounter when switching from traditional telephone service is how quick and easy it is to set up a VoIP account. There is no need to spend 30 minutes on hold to reach an operator who tries to load you down with expensive extra features. Signing up for a VoIP account takes an average of two minutes to complete, and customers can even transfer their existing telephone number. The convenience of setting up a VoIP account is certainly one of the initial reasons to switch to VoIP.

Is Somebody Listening to Your VoIP Calls?
VoIP Security
Perhaps not. But it is a fact that if somebody wants to, he can tap every VoIP call you make. This would be an invasion on your privacy but not much harmful if you were making small talk with your friends or inquiring about the health of your uncle Frank. On the other hand, if you were making a business call in which you exchanged sensitive information and if that phone was tapped, this could have serious consequences for you.
While snooping is also possible on the traditional landline phones, it is not that easy to carry out. The criminal needs to physically fiddle with your phone line cable to introduce a tapping device. This carries more risk of exposure than the tapping of a VoIP phone. A snooper can do the nefarious work anonymously sitting in front of his computer at home. And he can get at you three ways - through your internet service provider, VoIP service provider or your own pc if there is any security lapse at any of these points.

Get the Most Out of Your Phone Service by Switching to VOIP
A Comprehensive Resource for Getting the Right VOIP
VoIP stands for "voice over Internet provider" and since its heyday, has made magnificent strides towards replacing the old, pricey, often limited analog phone lines (PSTN) most have become comfortable with, and are accustomed to. Switching to VoIP not only often saves you money, but offers you a multitude of features that usually come with a heavy price tag or are not offered at all. VoIP residential unlimited plans generally range from around $15 - $25 a month and many providers offer unlimited talk time to a wide range of foreign countries at little or no additional cost. Most likely you can have both high speed Internet and a VoIP line (roughly $40 - $60 a month together) for less than your current analog long distance line.VoIP providers also typically offer you a plethora of features like caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, call transfer, 3-way calling, caller ID block, call return, do not disturb, anonymous call block, repeat dialing, international & directory assistance block, call hunt, ring lists, online access to your account, plus voice-mail you can check from your phone, while online, or even have forwarded to your mobile phone in text message format! It's also an excellent service for businesses, since most providers offer affordable toll free numbers and fax lines.
Like a regular phone line, VoIP sends your call to a network where it is forwarded to its destination. The difference is that with PSTN the call is sent in an analog format, but with VOIP it's sent as a digital code. The difference can be compared to a vinyl LP or cassette versus the modern CD or MP3 player (both produce and receive sound in digital format). Despite the misconception that VoIP sound quality doesn't match up with traditional phone lines, Global studies show that the leading VoIP providers have actually surpassed the overall audio quality of PSTN, and that leading cable VoIP providers have also outperformed PSTN in overall reliability.

Introduction to VoIP; A Few Tips for Those Considering VoIP Deployments
Avaya VoIP Deployment Considerations
Before you can deploy a certified VoIP solution, you need a network assessment to verify you have properly prepared your network for the VoIP traffic that will be running on it. Unless you have a great deal of experience in deploying VoIP, an assessment is suggested and if your plan is that "with this much bandwidth, we don't need QoS", then you ABSOLUTELY need an assessment. So, my first section is ....
The Network Assessment:
Performing a data network assessment is very different than performing a VoIP network assessment. Although the purpose of both VoIP and Data only networks is to move bits from host A to host B a very real difference exists in the requirements of each type of network. The function of VoIP technologies requires very strict standards that don't necessarily exist in a Data only network. Those standards, if not adhered to, will noticeably affect call quality.
Only in the last several years has the IT community generally accepted that VoIP Technologies are ready for the office environment and since its acceptance, have companies just begun to welcome VoIP technology. The slow acceptance of this emerging technology is despite the fact that same compression algorithms and standards for VoIP have been around for years. By far the largest reason that VoIP technology was not "ready for the real world" lies in the network that carried VoIP traffic not being ready. Even still today, if the requirements outlined in this and documents similar to this network assessment are not strictly adhered to, many companies find that they are not satisfied with the performance of their VoIP implementation.

With videos, features, and copius logos and quotes from major media who have reviewed the product including PC Magazine Editor's Choice, I was assured the MagicJack was a quality tested product that performed as it claims.
